Roy Grant Woods passed away on September 15, 2007, in Lakeside, Arizona. Born November 13, 1927, in Miami, Arizona, and raised in Thatcher, Arizona.

Roy Woods was the principal of Ray District High School. He was the principal and personnel director of the original Marana High School, and he planned for and was the principal of the Marana High School on Emigh Road.

In his lifetime, Roy Woods served as president of the North Central Accreditation Association and president of the Arizona Secondary School Principals. He originated the GED (General Education Development) program for adults with Central Arizona College and established the Master Schedule B Conference Athletics for southern Arizona.
