Leroy Peoples

Year of Graduation: 1964
Leroy was an outstanding four-sport high school athlete and the most decorated athlete at MHS.  His records still stand today, nearly fifty years since his graduation.  According to players from other high schools, Leroy was the most feared running back and a legend in his own time.  He set high school records in track, running the 100-meter during his junior season faster than any college runner on the West Coast.  He earned more state selections than any Marana athlete ever.
  Leroy put off his athletic career to volunteer to serve his country in the Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous medals for courage and bravery.  He retired from the military after 20 years’ service, retiring as a senior officer and leader.
