Originally hailing from Colorado, Elsie Mann moved to Arizona with her husband in 1952.  Before her arrival here she served as a WAAC during World War II.  Sher served the Marana community as an English teacher for over 25 years.  She touched the lives of many students throughout her years of teaching.  One of them, Tony Komadina III wrote, “Mrs. Mann was my 10th grade English teacher.  She was on of my favorites.  She challenged us but was fair.”  She was very honored to be inducted into the Marana High School Hall of Fame in 1986 and truly enjoyed celebrating the many achievements of Marana’s students and faculty.

Elsie Mann, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 2, 2011, with her husband of 65 years by her side. Elsie was born in Broomfield, Colorado, on January 4, 1919. Throughout her long and happy life, Elsie served in the Women’s Army Corps during WWII.

She then moved to Salmon, Idaho, where she met and married the love of her life, Warren L. Mann. Elsie and Warren moved to Denver, Colorado, and graduated from the University of Denver.

They moved to Arizona in 1952 for work. Elsie went on to become a High School English Teacher, teaching in Marana, Arizona, for over 25 years
