Walt Maxam joined the navy upon graduation and served in the Vietnam Conflict working on Swift Boats in 1966-67.  He has been involved with veteran groups for over 50 years, currently a VFW member in Marana and a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America.  He, also, belongs to Swift Boat Sailors of America and was honored for bringing Swift Boat 816 home to San Diego in 2012.

Walt has been a professional comedian since 2000, performing all over the country, locally at Laff’s in Tucson, but he is most proud of performing for military in Kuwait and Iraq.

Walt was employed by MUSD and earned Employee of the Year in the early 90s. He was recognized by Marana Foundation for Educational Excellence in 2000 for his work in mentoring students.  He helped open Quail Run where he worked until his retirement in 2011. Walt was a funny guy, and was a longtime host at Laffs Comedy Club in Tucson. He passed in 2014.
